Federal Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique has said that Imran Khan and Tahirul Qadri want to impose “rule of jungle” in Pakistan, accusing them for introducing the elements of violence in politics.
Talking to journalist outside the Parliament House on Tuesday, the railways minister, who has emerged as the government’s spokesman in the ongoing political crisis, assured the people of Pakistan that the protesters would not succeed in their designs.
Rafique said Khan and Qadri could be anything but politicians, questioning the attack on PTV Centre Islamabad after their claims to remain peaceful. He said in this hour of trial, Parliament was united and the joint session was a reflection of the collective wisdom of nation.
The minister stressed that decisions of democracy could not be changed by bullets and abuses. He vowed that attempts to conquer the capital would be defeated as no group or power can derail democracy. He said if the present group of protestors was allowed to succeed, then no institution or government would be safe from such protests in the future.
Rafique said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will not resign at any cost and that no group or power could derail democracy. He reiterated that the government was still ready for dialogue.
