Recommendations for ‘faceless courts’ reviewed

Different police recommendations were reviewed to establish ‘faceless courts’ during a meeting presided over by the Sindh inspector general of police at the Central Police Office.

It was informed at the meeting that steps were taken after the government’s announcement regarding faceless courts to provide protection to the witnesses of terrorism cases and other heinous crimes, said a statement on Sunday.

The meeting was apprised that it had become mandatory to provide life protection to the witnesses and their families and to bring criminals to justice it was also necessary to provide protection to judges, investigation officer and lawyers.

The legal proceeding in faceless courts will be kept completely secret and the accused will not be able to know any thing about the judges, lawyers, witnesses and investigation officers.

The special recommendations regarding the protection of investigators were also reviewed during the meeting, according to which new flats will be built for the families of such officers.

The IGP on the occasion gave the necessary instructions in this regard.
