The Supreme Court of Pakistan (SCP) had refused to accept compact disc (CD) presented by Sindh Rangers’ counsel in Sarfaraz Shah’s murder case that carried footages of the scene.

The CD was obtained from a particular private television. The said CD was based on recording of a special programme on slain Sarfaraz Shah which was hosted by TV show presenter Mubashir Luqman.

Justice Sarmad Jalal Usmani was hearing Sarfaraz Shah’s murder case review petition filed by Rangers at the SC Karachi Registry.

Justice Usmani said in his remarks that the apex court did not trust Mubashir Luqman and his name should not be cited before the apex court in future.

The apex court directed the petitioner to produce footages of the incident covered by some other private TV channel.

The petitioner had filed a review petition seeking relaxation in sentences awarded to Sindh Rangers personnel of which Shahid Zafar was sentenced to death while Bihauddin, Afzal Khan, Minthar, Liaquat Ali and park watchman Afsar Khan were sentenced to life imprisonment.

The Sindh High Court had maintained the sentences against which Rangers had moved the apex court for review.
