Rs 4,152m worth 24 Metro stations on cards

As many as 24 bus stations will be constructed in twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad at almost 24-kilometer long metro bus route at a cost of Rs 4,152 million.

Around 216 metres long and 19 meter wide 10 bus stations will be constructed in Rawalpindi while 14 stations will be for Islamabad.

Every bus station would have state of the art facilities like screen doors, lifts, electronic stairs, ticket station and automatic platform.

Metro Bus route will start from Flashman Hotel Rawalpindi Saddar and will terminate at Pakistan Secretariat Islamabad.

Saddar Flashman Hotel, Marir Chowk, Liaquat Bagh, Committee Chowk, Waris Khan, Benazir Bhutto Hospital, Rehmanabad, Sixth Road, Shamisabad, Faizabad bus stations will be in Rawalpindi while IJP Road, Potohar Road, Khabian-e-Johar, Faiz Ahmed Faiz Road, Kashmir Highway, Jhaman Road, Ibn-e-Sina Road, Kutchery Chowk, Stock Exchange, Seventh Avenue, Shahid-e-Millat Road, Parade Ground and Secretariat Stop bus stations will be in Islamabad.

According to Rawalpindi Commissioner Zahid Saeed, Metro Bus Project would facilitate as many as 150,000 commuters travelling by public transport daily.

Around 60 air-conditioned buses would initially ply on the Rawalpindi-Islamabad route. The project is being completed speedily, he added.

The project will provide quality travelling facilities to the citizens of Rawalpindi and Islamabad.
