ISLAMABAD-

Supreme Court of Pakistan on Wednesday issued directives to the government and counsels representing Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) to vacate the roads leading to the Parliament House and SC by Thursday, a private news channel reported.

According to the report, Chief Justice Nasir-uk-Mulk directed PTI counsel Hamid Khan, PAT counsel Ali Zafar and Attorney General Salman Aslam Butt to get one of the two lanes of Constitution Avenue cleared by tomorrow.

The apex court issued these directives during a case hearing pertaining to possibility of extra-constitutional measures in the country in the pretext of prevailing political crisis.

The court directed the lawyers to submit their reports in the next hearing on Thursday afternoon.

Constitution Avenue, housing the Parliament, Prime Minister’s Secretariat, Embassies and SC buildings has been occupied for the around nine days by PAT and PTI protestors, led by Imran Khan and Dr. Tahiul Qadri, respectively.

The protestors demand revamping of the electoral process, PM’s resignation and installation of an interim national government and mid-term elections.
