ISLAMABAD-

Protestors belonging to Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) remained camped at the Constitution Avenue on Tuesday, despite Supreme Court’s order to clear the area, a local news channel reported.

The protestors, however, vacated one lane for SC judges’ easy access to the apex court.

On Monday, Chief Justice Nasirul Mulk had issued orders to vacate the Constitution Avenue in a day while hearing a case filed on a petition against the extra-constitutional moves.

PTI and PAT are staging a sit-in for more than 10 days in Islamabad’s Red Zone, which houses embassies, supreme court, parliament house, diplomatic posts, residence of the prime minister and the president and other government offices.

PAT Chief Dr. Tahirul Qadri and PTI Chief Imran Khan separately led tens of thousands of people from eastern city of Lahore to Islamabad, protesting against alleged vote fraud in the 2013 elections that brought Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to power.

Both Khan, and Qadri; a dual Pakistani-Canadian citizen with a wide following,  demand reforms in Pakistan’s electoral system to prevent future vote fraud.

Backed by parliament and many political parties, PM Nawaz has said he won’t step down.
