Former president and Pakistan People’s Party Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari Monday telephoned Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan and discussed with him the ongoing political deadlock.

According to sources, Imran Khan and Asif Zardari exchanged views on possible ways to end the impasse.

Zardari told Khan that he had formed a committee of senior PPP leaders headed by Qamar Zaman Kaira which would meet the PTI chairman and persuade him to end the deadlock.

Earlier, addressing a meeting of his party’s central executive committee, Zardari asked his party’s leadership and workers to be ready for any kind of situation.

“Democracy would be protected and no step derailing it would be supported,” he reiterated.

Zardari also said that decisions must be made in the parliament, not on the streets.
