Lahore High Court Bar Association (LHCBA) has announced an “All Pakistan Lawyers Convention” on August 21 to seek guidelines on the prevailing political crisis.

Addressing a press conference on Tuesday, LHCBA President Shafqat Mehmood Chohan said that peaceful agitation is a fundamental right of every citizen but it should be within constitutional limits.

He said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan is a member of National Assembly and had taken oath to defend the Constitution.

“But an announcement for starting civil disobedience movement and entering Red Zone was a clear violation of the Constitution,” he said, adding that the parliament and courts should take strict notice of it.

Chohan said that General (r) Pervez Musharraf had subverted the constitution and he should not be given a safe passage. He said that if martial law was imposed, the lawyers would launch a movement across the country against it.

He said that LHCBA with cooporation of Supreme Court BA would hold a lawyers convention on August 21 to plan the future strategy.
