National Assembly (NA) Opposition Leader Khursheed Shah said Tuesday that the situation in the country might take a turn for the worse in case the government is advised to put the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chariman Imran Khan under house arrest.

Speaking to media representatives, Shah said Khan’s demand for re-election is incomprehensible as the re-election would be conducted by the same election commission which conducted the polls in May 2013.

He opined that electoral reforms are needed before holding fresh elections while adding that the reforms would require a significant amount of time to be implemented.

The veteran Pakistan People’s Party leader added that Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) Chairman Dr Tahirul Qadri statements are creating problems for him (Qadri).

Shah said the PAT chief’s statements of bloodshed could worsen the situation, adding that if the statements were meant as a ‘joke’ then a ‘joke’ of this nature could prove harmful.

The opposition leader said Qadri should learn from the actions of slain PPP leader Benazir Bhutto who never sought revenge.
