SC summons CDA, law secretary in land acquisition case

The Supreme Court (SC) has summoned chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Law and Justice secretary on August, 7 in acquisition of land for lawyers housing society and construction of hostel case.

The federation had held out assurance to the court for acquisition of land and payment of remaining amount in connection with construction of hostel.

A two-member bench of SC headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Nasirul Mulk and comprising Justice Amir Hani Muslim took up Pakistan Bar Council (PBC) petition for hearing Monday.

The court was told the land has not been provided so far despite court’s orders and no steps have been taken so far on this count. Ministry of law and justice has also not sent summary and CDA is also doing nothing for acquisition of land.

The court while adjourning the hearing of the case till August, 7 has summoned chairman CDA and secretary law and justice.
