‘Punjab govt utilising all resources for province’s development’

LAHORE – The Punjab government is utilising all available resources for the socio-economic development of the province and provision of basic amenities to the masses and a special programme is being implemented for poverty alleviation and uplift of education, health and other sectors, Punjab CM Shahbaz Sharif said on Monday.
He was chairing a meeting to review the implementation of ongoing development projects with the cooperation of the UK Department for International Development (DFID) and other development schemes in the province.
Punjab Planning and Development Secretary Ali Tahir gave a detailed briefing about the development projects and ongoing development activities with the assistance of DFID in the province. Shahbaz said that development schemes are being completed in far-flung and less-developed areas of the province on a priority basis.
Tahir said that the DFID is extending all-out cooperation in education, health and vocational education sectors and poverty alleviation in backward areas and desires further cooperation in this regard. He said that timely and transparent completion of all development projects is being ensured in the province.
Punjab Health Secretary Fawad Hassan Fawad, Punjab Livestock Secretary Captain (r) Jehanzaib Khan and Punjab Schools Secretary Aslam Kamboh also informed the meeting about the performance of their departments and ongoing development activities with the cooperation of DFID.
