The Punjab government has pledged to build around 2,000 housing units to resettle internally displaced persons (IDPs) in North Waziristan Agency (NWA).

The announcement was made Wednesday at Bakka Khel IDPs camp by Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif who had arrived to celebrate Eid with NWA IDPs.

Addressing at the camp, the provincial chief said that his government was making all-out efforts to assist IDPs and his government would construct a hospital costing Rs 1 billion, a university and Danish School in the area.

Counting the feathers in his cap, the chief minister said that the Punjab government had so far distributed Rs 280 million among 54,000 IDPs’ families and distribution of Rs 350 million would complete in two to three days followed by another financial package of Rs 350 million starting in August. He said there were no financial problems but corruption and terrorism were taking heavy toll on the national economy and it was high time to root out the menace of terrorism once and for all.

Shahbaz said the operation was launched at a time when terrorists were imposing their own school of thought at gun point.

Appreciating the courage and perseverance of the IDPs, he said they had rendered supreme sacrifice for Pakistan’s survival and their sacrifices would not go waste and would be remembered. He also appreciated Pakistan Army for successfully eliminating terrorists.

  1. While the pseudo-intellectual keyboard bangers of PTI continue to spew their venom, Shahbaz Sharif has shown great gesture in mingling up with the IDPs, dining with them and showing a great gesture in rehabilitating 20,000 people (avg family size of 10).

On the other hand, Imran Khan went on KPK Government's helicopter and enjoyed sumptuous meal with pulao & lamb roasts – which the poor IDPs could only dream!

Imran Khan's party reminded us of famine in Thar, when Qaim Ali Shah and his cabinet members were enjoying sumptuous meals at Thar while the famine-hit people were dying of hunger.
