MINGORA – The All-Parties Conference held under the auspices of Swat Bar Association on Monday demanded the chief justice of Pakistan appoint judges in DarUl Qaza Malakand at the earliest.
The demand was made through a resolution adopted by the APC. The coalition partners in the government were represented by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister Wajid Ali Khan and MNA Syed Alaud Din Khan.
Besides representatives of the Awami National Party and Pakistan People’s Party, the APC was also attended by local office bearers and stalwarts of almost other political parties. Beside political leaders, representatives of various trade, transport, hotel owners’ and other associations also attended.
Swat Bar Association President Asghar Khan briefed the participants on hardships faced by lawyers due to the delay in appointment of judges in Darul Qaza. The leaders and stalwarts of various political parties endorsed the demand for an early appointment of judges.
Through its resolution, the APC also expressed concern over policies by the Peshawar High Court chief justice regarding reactivating Darul Qaza in Malakand Division. The provincial government has already acquired building for Darul Qaza, but the Peshawar High Court is yet to get its custody.
Meanwhile, residents of Kabal Tehsil expressed concern over the delay in the payment of compensation for damaged houses and property. During a demonstration, residents said the government had promised paying compensating and urged it to honour its commitments.
