A two-member bench of Supreme Court presided over by Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan Wednesday dismissed contempt of court petition against Punjab Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif and Punjab chief secretary because of the matter being sub-judice in high court.

Punjab Additional Advocate General (AAG) presented necessary record pertaining to promotion, inquiry and other mattes in respect of Bilal, a government employee in the court. The court was told that the petitioner had already resorted to Lahore High Court under Article 199 of the Constitution and the matter was sub-judice.

The counsel for the petitioner pleaded that Punjab CM’s decision fell under the ambit of contempt of court as per Anita Turab case.

The SC judge remarked, “The matter is sub-judice in high court. Let the court decide it and then the matter will be seen later.”
