The Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) has urged Capital Development Authority (CDA) to resolve shops’ advertisement board tax issue on priority basis by notifying agreed tariff at Rs 60 per square yard (sq yd).

Acting ICCI president Khalid Chaudhry Wednesday said that a few months ago, CDA had raised shops advertisement board tax by 100 percent which had infuriated the traders.

Chaudhry said that CDA Municipal Administration Director Hamza Shafqaat in a meeting with traders held on the instructions of CDA Member Administration Amer Ahmed Ali had agreed that the authority would charge board tax at Rs 60/sq yd.

The traders were also assured that after the approval of the new budget, CDA officials would collect the board tax and the contractors would have no role in this regard. He said complaints were pouring in against the contractors for collection of board tax.

The ICCI president appealed CDA Chairman Maroof Afzal and the member administration to issue instructions for the issuance of notification of board tariff at Rs 60/sq yd.
