File your Modaraba claims with NAB by 28th

National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Rawalpindi region has set July 28 as last date for the victims of Modaraba/Musharka scam to submit claims.

The NAB also asked its other regions to follow the same set of instructions so as the affected people, who had not been able to submit their claims, could now avail the opportunity and also the bureau could ascertain the total volume of the fraud by the companies under investigation.

According to a bureau’s spokesman, NAB Rawalpindi, through an advertisement in the national media, has asked the victims to submit their applications along with copies of their Modaraba/Musharika agreements and CNICs till July 28.

The NAB Rawalpindi has sought the complaints/claims against seven companies, including Bilal Khan Banghesh, Masseha Forex, Mateeh ur Rehman son of Haji Surat Rehman of M/s Global Concern, Muhammad Ehsan son of Abdul Rehman, Hafiz Salahud Din son of Moulvi Ghulam Sadiq and others, Noman Qureshi, Abdullah & others of NE Associates, Abdullah Khan Muhammad & others of Al-Shamim Enterprises, Malik Haroon Tabreez & others and Ghulam Haider (Malik Naseer & Sons).

Currently, NAB Rawalpindi is pursuing 81 cases of cheating public at large by way of illegal modaraba/musharika business. Seven cases are at investigation stage, 19 at inquiry stage, five at complaint verification stage and 50 are at initial stage of complaint. There are total 36,462 individual victims in these cases, he added.

Total loss amounted to Rs 22.01 billion of which so far only 1.209 billion had been recovered, the spokesman said. He said so far 10 accused had been arrested in cases, which were now at investigation stage. Various moveable and immoveable properties of accused persons had also been cautioned/frozen to account for losses caused to general public.
