HOUSTON – US PGA Tour rookie Chris Kirk fired a three-under par 69 on Friday to seize a one-shot lead over defending champion Anthony Kim and 2008 champ Johnson Wagner at the Houston Open halfway point.
Kirk had a nine-under par total of 135, getting most of his second round in before the afternoon wind kicked up and made scoring tougher. Kim and Wagner both benefitted from the calm early conditions, and made the most of their knowledge of the Redstone course.
