Daniel Radcliffe has ruled out a new ‘Harry Potter’ movie based on J.K. Rowling’s new short story.
The 24-year-old star – who played the boy wizard in all eight blockbuster films – says the author’s 1,500-word story, which features a 34 year old Harry attending the 2014 Quidditch World Cup, is unlikely to be adapted for the big screen.
Speaking to reporters yesterday, he’s quoted by The Hollywood Reporter as saying: ”My inclination is to say ‘no’ because I don’t think it’s even a hypothetical at the moment. What she’s written — and I haven’t read yet but I will — I understand it’s a very short piece. And he’s 12 years older than I am now.”
Rowling’s story offers an update into the lives of Harry and his magical pals Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger, seven years after the final book was released.
Harry is described as showing ”threads of silver” in his famous black hair and he has also developed a ”nasty cut over his right cheekbone” to go along with the famous lightning bolt scar on his forehead.
The piece is written as a dispatch from journalist Rita Skeeter – who features in the books as a writer for the Daily Prophet – and even alludes to marital troubles between Harry and his wife Ginny Potter, nee Weasley.
