Mutahidda Ulema-o-Mushaikh Council of Pakistan (MUMCP) Chairman Mufti Muhammad Zahoor Ullah Hashmi Wednesday said that the nation stood behind armed forces in the Zarb-e-Azb operation against terrorists in North Waziristan Agency (NWA).

Addressing a joint meeting of religious scholars, he paid tribute to the armed forces and said Wednesday meeting gave all out support to the army in the operation. “We stand with our brave jawans and we salute them,” Hashmi said.

“The terrorists want to enforce their version of the Shariah using Kalashnikov and swords,” he added.

MUMCP chief urged people to show unity during the operation and extend all out support to internally displaced persons. He also lauded the role of Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif and soldiers who scarified their lives during the operation. He said that army was fighting a war of defence to strengthen the motherland.

Hashmi said clerics had extended unconditional support to Pakistan Army in the past and in present as well.

Mufti Zahoor Hashmi said that ideological religious scholars wanted to establish a society where followers of every religion could enjoy complete liberty to live their lives according to their faiths.
