The Supreme Court on Tuesday sought a comprehensive report within 15 days from Islamabad Police regarding the display of anti-judiciary posters and banners in the capital.
A three-member bench headed by Justice Jawwad Khawaja heard a petition filed by Independent Media Corporation regarding the anti-judiciary posters and banners in Islamabad.
The court directed the Islamabad Police Inspector General (IG) to submit a report of the police’s investigations and action taken against police officials who did not make an effort to arrest the culprits involved in the display of anti-judiciary posters and banners in Islamabad.
Deputy Attorney General Khawaja Ahmed Hassan informed the court that at least three policemen were suspended on the basis of recommendations made during the investigation.
Islamabad Police IG Aftab Ahmad Cheema told the bench that notices have been issued to 30 policemen. He said that chief accused, Muhammad Rashid, worked for the international media.
Islamabad Police SSP investigation told the bench that the police would complete the investigation in 15 days.
The court adjourned proceeding of the case till July 22.
