KARACHI – Playing with ordinary objects has always allowed Amjad Ali Talpur to observe the other side of the picture, said a press release issued by the Canvas Gallery where Talpur’s new work is being shown at an art exhibition until April 7.
Talpur says that ordinary objects hold strong meaning in them. “These objects are necessities of human beings and reflect the current situation of my country, which is afflicted with several crises,” he says. People outnumber resources in Pakistan, thereby increasing the sociological and psychological problems in our society, he adds.
“I enjoy the process of creating art, as well as the randomness, the playfulness and the humour in my practice,” the artist says. Talpur teaches in Jamshoro, and was trained in miniature art at the National College of Arts in Lahore. The current exhibition includes his works titled ‘5 Pai’, ‘Jhoot Bolna Achhi Baat Hai’, ‘Justice’, ‘My Language’, ‘Politics’, and ‘XXX’.
The Canvas Gallery is recognised as one of the leading art galleries in Pakistan.
