Pakistan is serious and sincere for the peaceful settlement of the Kashmir issue and in this regard it is ready for any strategy that is acceptable by the people of Kashmir, said Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan Chaudhry Muhammad Barjis Tahir while talking to journalists on Wednesday.

However, Tahir said, “Our demand for talks and resolving Kashmir through negotiations should not be considered as our weakness.”

Criticising the Indian government for over usage of billions of dollars on importing weapons, the minister said if India spends this money on the welfare of its one billion people that would initiate new era of peace and prosperity in the South Asian region.

Tahir opined that with the import of latest traditional weapons by India, a new race of obtaining weapons would start in the region.

Reposing hope on the new elected Indian government, the minister said that the Pakistani government wanted to resolve all outstanding conflicts on table that would ultimately result in bringing the South Asian countries at par with the other developed nations in the world. He stressed that the people of both the countries wanted welfare and development instead of purchasing weapons.
