  • 20 price committees to ensure strict implementation of rate list in federal capital

The Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Administration has activated 20 price control committees to ensure implementation of prices of food items fixed from the first of Ramadan in the federal capital.

The rates of food items fixed are Dal Chana (bareek) Rs 62 per kg, Dal Chana (moti) Rs 70 per kg, Dal moong (bareek) Rs 130 per kg, Dal moog (moti) Rs 170 per kg, Dal Mash Kuram Rs 140 per kg, Basin Rs 70 per kg, Samosa per dozen Rs 156, Pakora Rs 190 per kg, Jullebi, Rs 200 per kg, Milk Rs 80 per liter and Dahi Rs 90 per kg.

The shopkeepers have been directed to display the rate list of food items prominently at their shops.

The price control committees headed by the magistrates will ensure strict implementation of rate list in letter and spirit during Ramadan.

The price control committees will carry out daily price checking in the markets and will impose heavy fines on the profiteers.

Over charging of food items will not be allowed in any case and on the spot action would be taken against the profiteers.

The administration has also set up control room at phone No 051-9108084 to promptly attend complaints relating to prices and quality of food items. The magistrates will take immediate action on such complaints on the spot.

Earlier, a meeting of District Price Control Committee was also held under the chairmanship of deputy commissioner, Islamabad and prices of food items were fixed at the meeting.

The traders of Sabzi Mandi announced to voluntarily reduce the profit margin from 05 to 10 per cent on fruits and vegetables during Ramadan in order to provide maximum relief to the consumers.

They also apprised the participants of steps taken to ensure smooth and abundance supply of food items coming from other cities during Ramadan. The food department officials informed that the food inspectors are fixing the prices of fruits and vegetables in Sabzi Mandi, Islamabad, on a daily basis, at the time of auction and rate list is being supplied to the shopkeepers immediately for display and strict implementation.
