ISLAMABAD-
Ministry of Health Services and Regulation (MHSC) had issued advisory to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government on health hazards being faced by Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) from North Waziristan.
Advisory cautioned that IDPs are facing health hazards and several epidemics are likely to erupt therefore, KP government should take immediate remedial measures on this count.
The advisory said anti polio and measles campaign be launched immediately at the permanent centers of IDPs movement. Vitamin A drops should be administered to the children of age groups ranging between 6 months to 10 years. IDPs should also be immunized against polio and measles.
A course needs to be conducted on immunization of IDPs against epidemics. Child and mother health care centers should be set up for IDPs.
The facility to transport their patients to nearest hospital should be available. Clean drinking water should be provided to IDPs.
Chlorine tablets need to be used for purification of water. Mosquito nets should be provided to them for prevention against malaria and dengue fever.
Water and soap needs to be provided in wash rooms.
The representatives of health department should also include in the process of registration of IDPs so that health facilities could be provided to IDPs in their camps.
It was further said in health advisory that KPK government should take district administration, police and law enforcement agencies into confidence and sort out problems facing the IDPs.
