Peshawar police have registered a case against unknown militants as investigation continues over the attack on a Pakistan International Airlines plane on Tuesday night as it was about to land at Bacha Khan International Airport.

A woman, hailing from Nowshera, was killed and two others were injured in the attack.

The First Investigation Report (FIR) of the attack on PK 756 was lodged on Wednesday by PIA security officials at Badaber Police Station. Besides others sections of the Code of Criminal Procedure, murder and attempt to murder clauses have been included in the FIR.

The police is trying to find a clue of the militants involved in the attack.

Officials said that about 15 to 20 militants opened fire on the plane from Sulaimankhel area in the jurisdiction of Badaber Police Station. So far, the police claim to have recovered 50 used shells from the site.

According to the police, 250 persons were initially detained but later freed after their statements were recorded and their identity was verified.

Various agencies are now collecting information from different villages of Badaber.
