LAHORE – A petition was filed in the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Friday challenging Punjab CM Shahbaz Sharif’s Rs 0.5 million prize money for each player of the national cricket team from the provincial exchequer. Barrister Javed Iqbal Jaffrey filed the petition requesting the court to restrain the CM from misusing public money. He said that Shahbaz should give cash prizes to players from his own pocket, as he had no right to waste public money. Jaffrey said there was no need to oblige the cricket team after it lost the World Cup semi final and disappointed the nation at large. The petitioner said that the Punjab government should use the provincial exchequer carefully instead of spending it on personal whims of rulers.
