More rain and thundershowers are expected in scattered places of Lahore, Gujranwala, Sargodha, Multan and Sahiwal divisions during the next 24 hours.

According to local met office, rain-thundershower has occurred at scattered places in Gujranwala, Sahiwal, Sargodha and Lahore divisions in last 24 hours.

On behalf of the Punjab government, relief items worth Rs 100 million are being sent to the displaced persons. The first consignment of 50 trucks carrying relief articles including rice, flour, pulses and other commodities is being sent has been dispatched while more relief goods if required will also be provided by the Punjab government for the people of North Waziristan.

The CM made an appeal to philanthropists and well-to-do segments of the society to extend maximum help to their affected brethren and sisters and donate generously towards the relief fund.

Provincial Ministers Mujtaba Shujaur Rehman, Abdul Waheed Chaudhary, Bilal Yasin, Muhammad Shafiq, Begum Zakiya Shahnawaz, Advisor on Health Khawaja Salman Rafiq, PA members, Board of Revenue senior member, Provincial Disaster Management Authority director general and concerned officers were also present on the occasion.

The chief minister said that officers and jawans of Pakistan Army are engaged in the war against terrorism which is aimed at survival of the country and securing the future of the coming generations. He said that the whole nation is praying for its armed forces and is standing by them in the war against terrorism.

Shahbaz said that the Punjab government has sent 2000 tents, 20 thousand flour bags of 20kg each, 14 thousand rice bags of 20kg each and 20 thousand food hampers for the people of North Waziristan. He said that a committee headed by Provincial Food Minister Bilal Yasin and comprising elected representatives has also been constituted for the timely and smooth supply of relief assistance. He said that the committee will remain in touch with federal government and concerned authorities of North Waziristan to meet the requirements of the affectees immediately.
