Interior Secretary Shahid Khan on Tuesday informed the special court that the high treason case against former president General (r) Pervez Musharraf was registered after conducting an enquiry and investigation.

During the hearing of the treason case on Tuesday, the secretary said that the prime minister did not lodge any complaint against the former military ruler and had only ordered an investigation.

A three-member special bench, headed by Justice Arab, heard treason case against Musharraf for abrogating and subverting the constitution by the proclamation of emergency in the country on November 3, 2007.

Defence counsel Barrister Farogh Naseem started cross examination of the interior secretary.

The defence counsel asked the secretary, who is the complainant of the case, that who had ordered him to register the case against Musharraf. The secretary said that a letter was received from the Prime Minister House, after which an enquiry was conducted and the complaint was registered against the former military ruler. On a question about the letter, the complainant said that he has an attested copy of the original letter.

Nasim questioned whether there is any law that authorises the premier to order the interior secretary to file a complaint. The interior secretary replied that he was not aware of any such SRO or law, but the prime minister, as chief executive, can order probe into any case.

“The PM has directed investigation into different cases, including the Karachi incident,” he said.

The secretary explained that the probe against Musharraf was also started on the PM’s order but he did not file the complaint.

He admitted that the lodging of a complaint regarding violation of Article 6 took seven years.

The federal government decided on December 12, 2013 to file a complaint on the report of a joint investigation team. No additional documentation was done after the complaint was filed.

The cross examination of the interior secretary will continue in the hearing of the trial on Wednesday.

  1. why PAK has ignorant naapakis kaafirs gadaars .. musharaf by law- is a traitor – he did not pay rent x2 yrs london for his rented premises for his pakistani awami league etc and had to be kicked out by london court ..so why ARY abuses even prez of pakistan ? MUSHaraf must be given lie detector test in open court to find out if musharaf really killed benazir bhutto and thousands in balochistan .. LIE DETECTOR TEST IS THE ONLY WAY FOR MUSSHARAF THE LIAR -?KILLER ..

  2. We’d be much better off without the Bhutto and shareef monarchy that’s ruled Pakistan for too long to line their back pockets. The general never took a penny from pakistans treasury.

  3. Musharraf's tenure was the most progressive. Every thing was moving forward. He was most interested in welfare of the people. Generally everyone, specially the poor class was the happiest lot during his tenure. One can see the contrast of interest of Musharraf and these fraud degree politicians, who grabbed power by fraudulant sale / purchase of votes and constituencies in the cover of Democracy.
