- Opposition walks out from Punjab Assembly over death of eight PAT activists

Opposition parties Tuesday staged a walkout from the Punjab Assembly over the death of Minhajul Quran workers during police action in the city, demanding Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif to step down from his position.
Speaking on the floor of the Punjab Assembly, Opposition leader Mian Mehmoodur Rasheed said the government was increasing the strength of Dr Tahirul Qadri. He also alleged the involvement of the provincial government in the Lahore occurrence.
“We are trying to get rid of the Taliban while the Punjab government is doing terrorism itself,” he added.
Chaos and mayhem was witnessed in the assembly as the opposition members chanted slogans against the government, Punjab chief minister and held them responsible for the death of eight workers of Tehreek-e-Minhajul Quran.
Rasheed termed the Lahore incident as undemocratic and conspiracy against the democratic government. It was sheer violation of basic rights of masses as police opened straight fire at unarmed and innocent people, he added.
