Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) chief Sirajul Haq has expressed dissatisfaction with the government’s decision to launch a military offensive in North Waziristan Agency without taking other political parties in confidence.

Addressing party workers in Lahore, the JI chief said that people were kept in the dark about the NWA operation.

“No one, including the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government, was taken into confidence over the military offensive. If the government resorts to taking unilateral decisions, it will remain alone,” he said.

He insisted that dialogue should have continued, despite obstacles.

Siraj said it was challenging for the people to leave their native areas and live in camps in the tough summer conditions.

“Politics have been turned into a business. Political terrorism is going on for the past 65 years,” he said.

Haq said that social welfare organisations must help those affected by the NWA operation, adding that a campaign should be started to administer ‘anti-corruption’ drops to political leaders.
