ISLAMABAD – A petition was moved in the Supreme Court (SC) to review the court’s March 1 order regarding the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Amended Ordinance of 2010. The court, on March 1, had dismissed the writ petitions against the NAB Amended Ordinance 2010. Applicant Shahid Orakza, who had challenged the NAB Amended Ordinance 2010, filed a review petition on the court’s decision on Thursday. He questioned whether the SC could ignore an alleged violation of the constitution by the president of Pakistan after it had noted such violation.
“The fundamental purpose of this review petition is to secure an order for the impeachment of the president of Pakistan,” the petitioner stated. The petitioner also stated that the president had violated the constitution by issuing the ordinance without the advice of the prime minister, adding that prima-facie, a violation of Article 47 of the constitution had been made, and therefore, the withdrawal of the ordinance could not make his petition in fructuous.
