LAHORE – Terming the Mohali World Cup semi final between India and Pakistan as fixed in favour of India, a petition was filed in the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Thursday requesting the court to hold an inquiry by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) as to whether the ‘cricket diplomacy’ was a conspiracy prepared by bookmakers to cover their crime.
The petition was filed by Irfan Mukhtar, through his counsel Azhar Siddique, requesting the court to make the interior minister, information minister, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman, cricket team captain Shahid Afridi, players Misbahul Haq, Umar Akmal, Karman Akmal and the Pakistani high commissioners and ambassadors to the UK, India and UAE a party in the case.
The petitioner submitted that Pakistan surrendered the match to India proving that the game was fixed and the cricket diplomacy was started as a conspiracy in which two federal ministers might be involved. Mukhtar said that everyone knows that India is a hub of match fixing.
