  • Terrorist outfit says its just beginning; vows to launch more attacks
  • Law enforcers heighten security at all airports

Banned terrorists outfit Tehreek-e-Taliban Taliban (TTP) on Monday claimed responsibility for the attack on Jinnah international Airport Karachi in what it called revenge for the killing of brazen terrorist Hakimullah Mehsud in a drone strike in November 2013.

Talking to reporters from an undisclosed location, TTP spokesman Shahidullah Shahid said that they carried out the attack on the airport to avenge the death of Hakimullah Mehsud and more attacks will be carried out
in the future.

He also dismissed the recent offer by the government for peace talks as a “tool of war”.

He said, “The government used peace talks as a tool of war, it killed hundreds of innocent tribal women and children. This is our first attack to avenge the death of Hakimullah Mehsud.”

The TTP spokesman also said, “It’s just the beginning, we have taken revenge for one (Mehsud), we have to take revenge for hundreds.”

“We carried out this attack on the Karachi airport and it is a message to the Pakistan government that we are still alive to react over the killings of innocent people in bomb attacks on their villages,” the TTP spokesman said.

Shahidullah Shahid said the attack was planned much earlier but had been postponed due to the peace talks.
