KARACHI-

All 10 of the terrorists who stormed the Jinnah International Airport of Karachi on Sunday night have been killed, Director General of the Paramilitary Rangers Rizwan Akhtar told media men on Monday.

Addressing the media representatives at the airport, Akhtar said that the security agencies responded swiftly to the terror attack. The military operation started at 11:30pm on Sunday night and continued till 4:00am early morning, he said.

“Seven terrorists were killed by the security forces while three blew themselves up,” added Akhtar.

The DG Rangers said that the DNA tests of the militants will be carried out to determine their identity as they appeared to be Uzbek.

He further said that the weapons recovered from the attackers looked Indian-made and examination is going on for confirmation.

At least 28 people were killed, including 10 militants in a 6-hour military operation when heavily-armed militants launched an attack on Jinnah International Airport.

Eight Airport Security Force (ASF) personnel were injured while one Rangers man was martyred in the attack.

Four others were also reported to be injured.

18 victims, including the security troops and four airport workers have been identified by families.

Banned militant outfit Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has claimed responsibility for the attack.
