The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Wednesday declared the federal government’s response incomplete over an application pertaining to threats received by cable operators.

Cable Operators Association President Khalid Arain submitted the application in the LHC which presented the stance that cable operators were being threatened for not running a TV channel on initial numbers.

The application said that the court should provide cable operators with security.

It also stated that cable was the source of livelihood for cable operators and if this problem persisted then it would be difficult for them to continue to work.

The court ordered the government, Punjab Inspector General Khan Baig and Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) to submit detailed replies within 15 days and subsequently adjourned the hearing of the case.

Speaking to journalists after the hearing, Arain said they were bound to run governmental, health and Islamic channels on initial numbers but added that they were receiving death threats for not running a TV channel on initial numbers.
