Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif imposed a ban on the use of air conditioners in all government departments and offices before 11am in the morning.
The ban shall continue till such time that there is substantial improvement in the energy situation in the country.
The measure reflects the resolve of the government to manage the power crisis by management of demand.
According to sources, taking notice of misuse of air conditioners in government departments, PM directed concerned Secretaries to ensure that use of air conditioners in all govt departments are not allowed before 11 in the morning.
The prime minister expressed hope that provincial governments, private institutions and general public will cooperate with the government on energy conservation.
