An accountability court adjourned indictment of former prime minister Raja Pervez Ashraf in a case pertaining to his involvement in a multi-billion-rupee scam of Rental Power Projects (RPPs).
Those accused in the case, including Ashraf, were to be charge-sheeted on Friday but the court adjourned the case proceeding till June 3 over nonappearance of the accused.
AC Judge Muhammad Bashir has re-summoned all the accused on the next hearing.
Ashraf, who is a central leader of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), has been under investigation for his alleged role in the RPP scam during his tenure as water and power minister.
In March 2012, the Supreme Court of Pakistan declared all such projects unlawful and ordered investigations against officials involved, including Ashraf.
Former secretary and additional secretary of Water and Power Ministry, former chairman, MD and DG of Pakistan Electric Power Company (PEPCO) are also accused in the case.
