Prime Minister Mohammad Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday expressed serious concern over acts of vandalism at religious sites in Sindh and directed the officials to hold enquiry into the matter.
Talking to Sindh parliamentarians at the Prime Minister’s House, the premier said that the federal government would undertake rehabilitation of religious sites that were damaged. He also directed the establishment a dedicated cell at the Prime Minister’s Office for Sindh affairs.
Moreover, the prime minister said that the position of provincial party leader and other vacant provincial party posts would be filled soon.
“Our party is engaged in politics of reconciliation and strengthening democracy,” the prime minister said in the gathering comprising Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, Federal Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafiq, Minister of State for Railways Abdul Hakeem Baloch and Senator Mushahid Ullah Khan among others.
Parliamentarians from Sindh apprised the prime minister about development issues of their respective constituencies, lauded the success of Karachi operation and congratulated the prime minister on his successful visit to India.
The issue of desecration of religious sites of minorities in Sindh was also highlighted.
“We have always respected mandate of other parties and expect the same from them,” said the prime minister, adding that it was their commitment to the people of Sindh that law and order situation would improve.
“Bringing back normalcy in Karachi is my priority as it is the economic hub of Pakistan,” the prime minister said.
