Mr. Jam Kamal Khan, Minister of State for Petroleum & Natural Resources who is on an official visit to Turkmenistan for participation in 5th Turkmenistan Gas Congress-2014, held a meeting with the Chairman of the State Agency for the Use of Hydrocarbon Resources under the President of Turkmenistan, Mr. Yagshygeldi Kakayev on May 21, 2014, on the sidelines of the Congress. The two sides discussed prospects for enhancing bilateral cooperation in the field of energy. The Minister of State offered the services of Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) for exploration and production of oil and gas in Caspian basin adjacent to Turkmenistan. The offer was accepted by Turkmen side which desired that formal request for this purpose may be sent so that the two sides may discuss details for award of a block in the Caspian Sea.
The Minister of State also held a meeting with the Chairman, Turkmengaz and discussed the ways and means for import of sizeable quantity of LPG from Turkmenistan. Turkmen side explained the procedure for this purpose and desired that a delegation may be deputed to Turkmenistan to discuss the issue in detail and to finalize the contract for this purpose.
The Minister of State also held meetings with the representatives of Asian Development Bank and discussed present status of TAPI gas pipeline. The sides agreed to enhance cooperation for early implementation of the project.
