Key Taliban commanders killed in Wednesday’s air strikes in North Waziristan were identified today on Thursday, a private news channel reported.

Sources said Jihadyar, Dukhtar Muhammad, Musa Mehsud and Sabir Mehsud were among the 60 insurgents killed by Pakistan army in early morning airstrikes on Wednesday. The air raids also left some foreign terrorists in the tribal region.

At least 11 other militants died in fighting near Mir Ali in the North Waziristan region yesterday.

Today, the security forces continued their action for the second day, arresting dozens of suspects in Miranshah and Mir Ali towns. During the operation, sources said, the troops blew up various hideouts of terrorists.

On the other hand, people of tribal areas have started evacuating their homes in Miranshah in the wake of a possible military offensive against Taliban insurgents.
