LAHORE – Around 5000 Pakistan cricket fans, including PPP leader Aitzaz Ashan, left for Mohali to watch the Pakistan-India semi-final to be played in Mohali on March 30.
The Indian home ministry has authorised upto 5000 visas to facilitate the entry of Pakistan fans into India. During the last two days, hundreds of fans queued up at the Wagah border to travel across the border. The Indian embassy facilitated only those who have valid tickets for the match, and they were given visas on priority basis.
Aitzaz Ahsan, along with a 12-member delegation, proceeded to Mohali through the Wagah border route. He said that the outstanding issues between Pakistan and India must be resolved so that bilateral trade could be boosted.
The delegation comprised Pakistan Women’s Cricket Association President Bushra Aitzaz, former PCB chairman Shahryar Ahmed and his wife, and former ambassador Anisuddin. Aitzaz also stressed that the visa policies must be eased to allow movement of the maximum number of people across the borders to foster an atmosphere of friendliness.
