The Finance Ministry has demanded the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to refund Rs 3 billion it provided to hold the local government elections.

According to a private TV channel, the Ministry had released Rs 3 billion to the ECP last year for local body polls. The ECP has so far not paid the Pakistan Army and National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) for their services during general elections 2013.

The ECP said NADRA had to be paid Rs 450 million and 310 million to the army. The ECP said an expenditure of Rs 180 million was incurred in door-to-door verification of voters.
