Former Test cricketer Sarfraz Nawaz while hailing the news of Pakistan-India signing a FTP to play six full bilateral series between 2015 and 2023 said this was the need of the hour which is undoubtedly done with the all-out efforts of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Najam Sethi.
Pakistan and India have signed on to play six full bilateral series between 2015 and 2023, the first of which, at the end of next year, is likely to take place in the UAE. Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had signed MoUs with several countries, including the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and for six series, covering the Future Tours Programme (FTP) from 2015-2023.
Talking to APP, Sarfraz said Pakistan and India face-to-face is just like the Ashes series of the subcontinent. “By these types of series we can get a lot of quality cricketers. At one time Pakistan was a better team in all respects but India has overtaken us and produced some of the best batsmen in the world as a lot of cricket in happening there,” he said.
Sarfraz said he was the greatest fan of Indo-Pak series and the news of it resuming on regular basis will help in developing a new relation between the two nations. “Both the countries governments should also put their part in this FTP and help in the happening of these series.
“Sethi had been paying special attention for the revival of Indo-Pak series and it is great to hear that he did it,” he said.
The former pacer said besides cricket other sports activities should also be conducted between the two nations on regular basis. “This way both countries can improve their relation,” he said adding sports are a source of income which could result in the betterment of the economy of both the countries.
