Commissioner reviews progress on Malir flyovers

Karachi Commissioner Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqi Thursday expressed annoyance over problems created for the people for not paying heed to alternate traffic routes during construction of flyovers at Malir Halt and Malir 15.

In this regard, the commissioner convened a meeting to discuss progress of the work on Malir Halt and Malir 15 flyovers as well as the problems which are being faced by the people due to the ongoing construction of the flyovers, said a statement.

He expressed displeasure over accumulation of sewerage water on track from Airport to Quaidabad. Why the Engineering Council and the government departments be not advised to blacklist and cancellation of licenses of those contractors and consultants, who are responsible for the delay in work on the project, the commissioner said.

He observed that the incomplete and delayed projects always created problems for the masses. Director General Technical Service KMC Niaz Ahmed Soomro gave assurance to the meeting that the sewerage work on Malir 15 flyover would be completed by Friday morning.

The shifting of electric polls which were coming into the way of flyover had been started and encroachments removal from the route of the flyover would also be completed, he said. Officials concerned of Water Board, KMC, projects directors, concerned engineers, consultants, contractors and other notables were also present on the occasion.
