The dwellers of the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad are facing acute gas shortage for the last few days and there has been no explanation from the authorities of SNGPL in this connection.

According to reports, residents of Sector G-9 have been facing severe shortage of gas for last many days which has badly disturbed their routine life.

The residents said that several localities in the sector are receiving very low gas pressure, making it impossible for them to cook. They said that children and office goers have to go to their educational institutions and offices respectively often without eating breakfast. They said that gas shortage in summer is beyond understanding as it is not used in heaters and water geysers in the season, reducing consumption and demand.

Sadique Hussain, a resident of the sector, said that domestic consumers should be provided uninterrupted gas supply and the shortfall should be accommodated in CNG sector. He said that patrol could be used in vehicles as alternative but there is no alternative of gas to burn in stoves.

Residents of Khayaban-e-Sir Syed Rawalpindi are without gas in the morning and evening hours for the last three days creating immense problems for housewives. The residents said it is surprising that the gas load shedding is being applied to domestic consumers despite commitment by the Prime Minister that domestic consumers would get the much needed fuel round the year.

The residents demanded the higher authorities of the gas supply company and the Minister for Petroleum and Natural resources to take serious notice of this disturbing situation.
