LAHORE – Former Punjab chief minister and senior Pakistan Muslim League-Q leader MNA Chaudhry Parvez Elahi condemned the ‘brutal and inhuman’ treatment currently being meted out to doctors in Punjab at the hands of Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif.
He flayed the Punjab CM for arresting innocent doctors instead of giving them a patient hearing. He said the rulers got their medical treatment from the UK and the US and therefore had no qualms in disrupting the health infrastructure meant for the poor. Elahi held the Punjab government’s ‘hostile and vindictive policies’ responsible for brain drain of doctors.
He said that the Punjab chief minister has treated doctors like ‘hardened criminals’, over the last three years. Elahi condemned the Punjab government for ‘forcibly silencing’ the doctors.
He said that instead of spending public funds on media campaigns against doctors, the Punjab government should have used this money to increase doctors’ salaries and privileges.
