PONDICHERRY-

A Pakistani student studying at Pondicherry University was attacked by three unidentified people with iron rods on Thursday morning.

According to police, Ali Hassan Raza, 24, was sleeping in his room at the Sir C V Raman Hostel when three unidentified people armed with iron rods barged into the room and attacked him around 4am.
Raza, who attempted to defend himself, raised an alarm.

He sustained injuries in his neck and back.

The attackers escaped before other students came to his rescue.

The students generally do not lock their rooms during night due to extreme hot conditions.
Raza is the only Pakistani student at Pondicherry University.

  1. Well, Raza, who the hell gave you this genius idea of going to india for studies? Pakistani mai universities ki kami thi kya. And of all the places in the world, you chose the oh-so-secular india.

    Fie.

  2. I have been living on this campus for the past two years. I have not a single incident to recall in which anyone used harsh words against me. I don’t understand what their motive was.”

Quick to rule out the involvement of any religious group, he said: “Though a Muslim, I have more Hindu friends than from my brethren…this is so even in Pakistan,” said Raza, who also dispelled speculation about a romantic relationship prompting the attack.

“What I want to say is that what happened in five minutes should not be seen as overshadowing the wonderful two years here. I really had a great time in India" – Ali Hassan Raza
