Archrivals Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) and Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) came face to face after the former urged Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to install an “impartial” governor in the province.

The demand came soon after a law and order meeting, chaired by Nawaz, ended in the city.

Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar, Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif and other top officials attended the meeting.

Karachi JI chief Naeemur Rahman said Sindh Governor Ishratul Ibad had been holding the office for so long.

Responding to the statement, MQM leader Haider Abbas Rizvi said that JI’s pain could be felt clearly. He said that Karachi operation was initiated on the MQM’s demand and for this the party was thankful to the PM.
