The Supreme Court (SC) has admitted for preliminary hearing a petition filed by Mehmood Akhtar Naqvi in shoulder promotion case of Sindh police.

A three-member bench of SC presided over by Justice Nasirul Mulk took up the case for hearing in Islamabad on Wednesday.

The Sindh Assembly had allowed shoulder promotion under Bill-2013. However SC had revoked these promotions besides declaring the deputation null and void.

Police officers in Sindh were promoted in BPS-17, 18, 19 and 21. These promotions included out-of-turn and shoulder promotions. However, the SC not only revoked them in Sindh but also directed the other provinces to implement its orders on this count.

The hearing of the case was adjourned till June, 1.
