Five Lt Generals of Pakistan Army, including director general of Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) will retire this year at the completion of their service.

According to sources, DG ISI Lt Gen Zaheerul Islam will retire in October. He was appointed DG ISI on 19th March, 2012 on the retirement of Lt General Ahmad Shuja Pasha.

Others to retire in October, 2014 include Corps Commander Mangla Lt General Tariq Khan, Corps Commander Gujranwala Lt General Saleem Nawaz, Corps Commander Peshawar Lt General Khalid Rabbani and Corps Commander Karachi Lt General Sajjad Ghani.

There is no tradition of giving extension in Pakistan Army except in extra ordinary cases. In the recent past only former DG ISI Lt Gen Ahmad Shuja Pasha and former COAS Gen Ashfaq Pervez Kayani had been given extensions. However former president and COAS Gen Pervez Musharraf enjoyed self granted extensions as well.
